LCLS turned on strongly, and its performance has encouraged exciting new possibilities for the future. In the first half of this talk I will review the recent performance,  describe improvements to be implemented for the experimental run this year, and discuss plans for the next couple of years. The latter half of the talk will be devoted to concepts being considered for an expanded version of LCLS, called "LCLS 2", which would service more simultaneous users  and increase the physics reach.
