Abstract

Science with next-generation soft X-ray sources

Fulvio Parmigiani
University of Trieste (Italy) and Sincrotrone Trieste

Here I am reporting an overview on future light sources, such as FEL, super storage ring and ERL, aimed describing their strengths and weaknesses.  In particular, by starting from state-of-art experiments a new scenario for advanced frontiers experiments and advanced analytical tools is presented. By considering the photon beam behavior requested for such experiments a critical comparison among the different sources is presented and discussed. Finally, a strategy for the future, representing the complexity and the grand challenges offered by these facilities, is conferred.
