Overview of Ring-Based X-ray Sources
Michael Borland
ANL
This talk starts with a brief review of the strengths and status of ring-based x-ray sources. Following this, we discuss the challenges and potential of possible next-generation ring-based sources, which may offer increases in flux, brightness, and coherence of several orders of magnitude. A comparison is made with possible sources based on the energy recovery linac concept, both in terms of potential performance and challenges.
