The Charged Particle Optics Group

This is a small group of experts in charged particle optics and single-particle beam dynamics. The primary focus of the group is to design the start-of-the-art storage rings for electron beam with applications to high-luminosity colliders, damping rings, and synchrotron light sources.
The goal is to advance the frontier of high-brightness electron beam in storage rings while searching novel ideas to meet the new challenges that are associated to ultralow emittance and very high current.
Recently, as an example, the group developed a design of PEP-X with 30 pm-rad emittance at 4.5 GeV beam energy without using wigglers.
