Call for Nominations for LCLS and SSRL User Executive Committees (UEC)

We encourage your help to identify candidates who may be interested in standing for election to either the LCLS or SSRL User Executive Committee (UECs).

Submit LCLS UEC nominations by August 25th

Submit SSRL UEC nominations by September 5th

We will then create ballots and begin the election process which will conclude during the Annual Users’ Conference, September 27-29, 2017.

Proposal to Amend LCLS Users' Organization Charter & By-laws by August 25th

At the June 22, 2017 Users Executive Committee Meeting, a motion was passed proposing an amendment of the LCLS Users' Organization Charter and By-laws to allow an increase in the size of the UEC, from 12 to 15 members. This measure is proposed as a way of ensuring each sub-group of users (AMO, BIO, CSD, HCM, MEC) has equal representation within the UEC. Proposed changes to the bylaws shall be presented to the LCLS UO membership, who will cast votes through electronic means. An open voting period of no less than two weeks is required. These bylaws shall be amended by a favorable vote of two-thirds of ballots cast.

Nominate a candidate for the LCLS Young Investigator Award by August 25th

LCLS is inviting nominations for an award to recognize exceptional contributions from scientists in the early stages of their research career. Nominations will be reviewed by the LCLS User Executive Committee, who will select the winner. The winner will be invited to attend the Users' Meeting. Eligibility: candidates must be <6 years PhD and no higher than Assistant Professor level.

Call for Poster Abstracts for Users' Conference by September 20th

Submit Poster Abstracts by September 20 to participate in the user science poster session at the annual users conference which is a great time to share your latest results and learn what your colleagues are doing. Poster presenters can compete for the Joe Wong Outstanding Poster Prizes and can make a quick, creative pitch for their posters during the Poster Blitz at the plenary session!
