Research Interests

Condensed matter experiments, with a focus on Quantum Materials: materials which display ordering phenomena, peculiar behavior, and phase transitions that are not explained without the use of quantum effects. This is anything from high-temperature superconductors to strong spin-orbit coupled materials, such as the iridates. In addition, we also study nanomagnetism and orbital effects in low dimensional systems using new techniques such as ultra-fast x-ray scattering, coherent x-ray diffraction, and THz optical studies.
